Osaka, 3 April 2025 – VusionGroup (VU – FR0010282822), a global leader in the digitalisation of retail, has been chosen by Seven-Eleven Japan via its partner TOPPAN to equip two innovative store concepts at World Expo 2025 in Osaka. The stores combine advanced technology and sustainability for a new kind of customer and employee experience.
The concepts use the light-harvesting version of VusionGroup's EdgeSense system – developed in collaboration with Exeger – making it the world's first installation of this technology. With the VusionOX operating system, the solution offers real-time shelf analytics, guidance for staff and customers, and management of digital signage for more efficient operations and better customer engagement.
The light-harvesting variant reduces the need for batteries by making use of the stores' existing light, lowering environmental impact and increasing the energy available for smarter store operations.
“By combining EdgeSense with Exeger's Powerfoyle technology, we are showing how the retail of the future can become smarter, more sustainable and more engaging,” says Pascal Gerbert-Gaillard, EVP APAC at VusionGroup.
The stores demonstrate:
• An interactive customer experience – real-time information and dynamic displays.
• More efficient operations – easier product location, communication and digital signage.
• Sustainability – solar-powered solutions that reduce the carbon footprint and the need for disposable batteries.
VusionGroup, which serves more than 350 major retail groups globally, develops IoT, cloud and AI-based solutions to modernise retail and make it more sustainable.
