Sigrid Therapeutics receives US patent approval for SiPore® technology
Stockholm, 8 September 2025 – Sigrid Therapeutics announces that the United States Patent and Trademark Office, USPTO, has issued a Notice of Allowance for the company's patent application US2022135411A1, “Highly Structured Porous Silica Materials and Biological Uses Thereof”. This is an important step in the company's patent strategy and strengthens its position in next-generation health technology based on porous silicon.
The patent covers new porous silica particles with a hierarchical pore structure, the foundation of Sigrid's SiPore® platform. Unlike conventional silica, SiPore® is engineered with precisely controlled pores that can trap digestive enzymes in the gut. This physical mechanism opens the way for clinically proven, non-systemic solutions for blood sugar regulation, weight management and broader metabolic health, among other things.

The patent is expected to be formally granted once the administrative steps are completed and strengthens Sigrid's already extensive patent portfolio. The company already holds two US patents (US 10,695,294 and US 12,121,612) and European patent EP2916852B1, validated in the EU, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Turkey, among others, as well as granted patents in Canada, Australia, Japan and Israel.
