Sigrid raises capital – Launches Ozempic challenger

Swedish medtech company Sigrid Therapeutics has raised SEK 45 million in a new share issue to increase its market presence in the US and prepare the launch of Carb fence – an over-the-counter weight-loss product described as an alternative to the drug Ozempic.

Carb fence, a medical device gel, is already approved in the US and is expected to be approved in the EU. In clinical studies the product has been shown to lower blood sugar levels and preserve muscle mass. A broad launch is planned in 2026.

Sigrid recently increased its valuation from 430 MSEK to around 600 MSEK, and the company sees great potential in the US market, where Carb fence is expected to become a key product.

At the same time, sales of the company's first product, Sigrid Stabiliser – a dietary supplement that reduces calorie uptake by blocking digestive enzymes – are growing. The product sells for around SEK 1,000/month and is expected to generate 40 MSEK in revenue and profitability in 2026.

Several well-known investors took part in the funding round, including Martin Bjäringer, Ulf Wiinberg and Hans and Barbara Bergström. Family offices from Switzerland and Ireland also took part.

Sigrid Therapeutics was also one of the three most traded unlisted shares on Eqvor's platform in 2025 – a clear sign that more investors view the company's development positively.
