What the company does
Hedvig sells insurance directly to consumers — home, house, car, pet, accident, student and holiday home. The customer relationship is managed in the app, from taking out a policy to filing a claim, and pricing is done in an in-house platform built for machine learning. The policies are issued by the subsidiary Hedvig Försäkring AB, which is supervised by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) — the exception is car insurance, where Eir Försäkring is the insurer.
Hallmarks of Hedvig
- Growth with an improved profitability profile. Premium volume has grown from SEK 164 million to SEK 429 million between 2022 and 2025, while the loss ratio has fallen from 122 to 67 per cent and the result has improved every year.
- More policies per member. A broader product range, a multi-policy discount and partnerships with SEB and local car dealers, among others.
- Strong ownership. Adelis Equity has been the principal owner since 2023, with SEB among the shareholders. The chair of the board is Nicklas Storåkers, former CEO of Avanza. In total the company has raised SEK 1.1 billion.
Trading the share
Hedvig is not connected to Euroclear but keeps its own share register — after a completed trade you are entered as the owner in your own name, and no custody account is needed. The share is subject to a pre-emption clause (förköp) with a 30-day period: existing owners are first offered the chance to buy the shares on the same terms, and if the pre-emption right is exercised there is no trade — the buyer then pays nothing.
