Stegra in agreements for logistics solutions with the ports of Skellefteå and Umeå
Stegra Secures Key Port Agreements to Support Boden Steel Exports
Boden, Sweden – [Date] – Stegra has signed strategic agreements to secure port capacity for both outgoing steel products and incoming raw materials from its future steel plant in Boden.
Under one agreement, the newly expanded section of the Port of Skellefteå will handle exports of steel coils produced in Boden. At the same time, Stegra has reached an operational agreement with Finnish port operator Rauanheimo, which will manage parts of the cargo handling in Skellefteå.
“We value the customer-oriented and solution-driven dialogue with both the Port of Skellefteå and Rauanheimo,” said Jenny Marin, Head of Logistics at Stegra. “This agreement quickly secures the export of our steel products from Boden during the first years.”
Stegra is also preparing a second logistics hub in Umeå:
• Stegra has signed an agreement with Kvarken Ports Umeå.
• Rauanheimo will also handle cargo operations here, supporting scrap storage and logistics needed for steel production in Boden.
“The Umeå project includes plans for scrap storage in cooperation with Rauanheimo, a port operator with long-standing experience in cargo handling,” Marin added.
For Rauanheimo, these agreements mark an entry into the Swedish market.
“The agreement with Stegra is a historic milestone and an important step in our internationalization,” said Tero Kosonen, CEO of Rauanheimo. “We look forward to helping build the steel industry of the future together with Stegra and the ports of Skellefteå and Umeå.”
These new port agreements complement Stegra’s earlier logistics solution and lease at the Port of Luleå, creating a flexible, multi-port network for inbound scrap and outbound steel products from the Boden facility.
